This much I know is true The greatest gift you can give is your time

This much I know is genuine The best blessing you can give is your time This much I know is genuine The best blessing you can give is your time I was attracting my room when my folks came in. Father sat opposite me and Mom remained inside the doorway.Johnny, while you're home from school this mid year, we need your assistance taking Nana to the medical clinic for her medications, my dad said.Sure, Dad. I was glad to help.Nana was my fatherly grandma, and she was battling malignant growth. She lived not a long way from us, in a leased room of a family home. She despite everything drove, except the medications left her too feeble to even think about getting behind the wheel.I didn't ask how genuine Nana's malignant growth was. I surmise I would not like to discover out.She wasn't going to quitIt was ungainly the primary day I got her. She used to impart a loft to my other grandma, Banner. At the point when Banner died, Nana needed to discover increasingly moderate accommodations. The family she leased a room from was pleasant enough, yet it was strange strolling through their home to Nana's room. It felt outside and out of plac e.I thumped on her room door.Hey, Nana, it's Johnny. I'm here to take you to your appointment. She opened the entryway and grinned. The smell of cigarettes hit me. Nana had smoked as long as she can remember. She wasn't going to stop, not even with cancer. We headed to the medical clinic and Nana discussed the family she lived with. How she didn't care for it there. How the food was terrible, and the children were uproarious at night. She didn't approach how school was going for me. In any case, at that point, when you're in your mid twenties, it's anything but difficult to figure everything ought to rotate around you.I strolled Nana up the steps to the emergency clinic entrance. There were a few chickadees fluttering about, tweeting in a neighboring tree. I called attention to them and Nana smiled.Nana didn't grin regularly, and it felt great to see her elevated. As we strolled into the clinic, I began to get an idea.I need to take you somewhereI sat in the lounge area. The cool tile floors, clipboards, beige dividers, intelligent lift entryways, and humming bright lights all felt sterile to me.I could just envision what it resembled for Nana. Suffering week after week medications, and afterward return to that forlorn room. I needed to remove her from everything, if just for a couple hours. After the arrangement, I accompanied Nana back to the vehicle, which was my Dad's Buick Riviera.Hey Nana, do you need to get back right away? Why, no Johnny. Do you make them shop to do? she asked. No, I need to take you some place. It's an amazement, yet just in case you're groping to it.That would be fine, Johnny, she answered.A short train rideWe drove for a piece and before long were back in Los Gatos, where I moved toward the parking garage of Oak Meadow Park. I investigated at Nana.I recollect taking you here when you were nearly nothing, she stated, looking out the window at the yards and playground.Don't stress, we're not heading off to the swing sets or slides, I said.I got her out of the vehicle and she accepting my arm as we walked around a long pathway.Where are we going, Johnny? she asked. You'll see, Nana. You'll see.It was an excellent evening. The scour jays were dashing above us in the tree covering. Kids were snickering on the play area. A warm breeze kissed our faces. We adjusted the corner, and I watched Nana's eyes light up.What's this, Johnny? They have a railroad and merry go round here, Nana. It's known as the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad and W.E. Bill Mason Carousel. I thought, in the event that you were feeling like it, we'd go for a short train ride. I grinned at Nana. She looked at the little trains, loaded up with youngsters and families. At that point she glanced back at me and smiled. The train helped us through the forested areas into a magnificent freeing from moving gardens. We ventured further, surrounding Vasona lake, with its numerous ducks quacking and bouncing in the water.Nana grinned and chuckled when I brought up a line of child ducks, attempting to follow their mom along the shore.Of course, all beneficial things reach a conclusion. We came back to the train station, and the conductor let out one final whistle before we halted and disembarked.Nana was worn out, yet at the same time grinning. I drove her back home and strolled her through the house to the bedroom.I trust you made some great memories, Nana.Thank you, Johnny, that was a ton of fun, she said. I embraced her and advised her to get some rest.We stood by to advise youThere were different excursions to the emergency clinic, and before I knew it my late spring get-away was finished and I was back at school. It was my senior year. There were late night study meetings, finals, and parties. My guardians came up for the graduation service. Thereafter, they said they had something to show me. We strolled behind my quarters working to the parking area, and there sat a white Toyota Tercel, with a red bow appended to the roof.No way, you folks got me a vehicle! I shouted, happily. My guardians chuckled and said they were pleased with me. We embraced and afterward went to look at the vehicle. I was overjoyed with fervor. It was an astounding day. I had done well in school and graduated with unique excellence. I had another vehicle and plans that night to go to a gathering at a winery with my friends. Before my folks left, we came back to my residence room.Johny, we stood by to reveal to you this until after your finals were finished. We didn't need you to be diverted or pained by any means, Dad said.I took a gander at him and my mother. Before Dad could proceed with I stated, Nana passed away.Yes, I'm apprehensive so. She wound up in the clinic and slipped into a coma.I plunked down on the finish of the bed. Mother plunked down close to me and we spoke somewhat about her. We thought back about Nana and Banner. I wished they could have lived to make the most of my graduation.Eventually, it was the ideal opportunity for my folks t o commute home. We embraced, and I expressed gratitude toward them for the mind boggling graduation blessing, and for all their support. This much I know is trueI had some an opportunity to murder before the graduation celebration and appreciated a couple of lagers with companions in the dormitories. The evening daylight started to blur and sunset was settling around the school campus.I walked around to one of my preferred spots, the grounds duck lake. It had one of those bended scaffolds, much like the one Monet painted at Giverny.I strolled most of the way over the extension and inclined toward the railing. I thought of Nana and that day in the recreation center. I recalled her grins, the train whistles, the ducks and the delight we both felt together.I don't comprehend everything about existence and misfortune, yet this much I know is true:The most prominent blessing you can give friends and family is your time.Unhurried time, and your total consideration. They are blessings you g ive them, yet additionally yourself. That night on the duck lake connect, I shed a couple of tears. Tears of grieving and misfortune. However, others were tears of appreciation for the recollections of that day on the railroad with Nana. That extraordinary time we shared together. There is a good to this short story:Make time for the ones you love. You'll bring them happiness and make recollections that will support you the remainder of your life. Before you goI'm John P. Weiss. I paint scenes, draw kid's shows and expound on life. Much obliged for reading. This article previously showed up on Medium.

You Never Know How You Affect Someone

You Never Know How You Affect Someone Throughout out life and career we meet a lot of people. And we leave an impression on them. It doesnt matter if we are the kid in the mailroom, the person behind the cash register, the doorman at the hotel, or the executive in the cafeteria. Each time you have an interaction, whether its in person, on the phone, or digitally, you are affecting someone. Yes, they will walk away with an impression of you, but Im not talking about that. My post from yesterday, about winning, got much more commentary than I expected. Im not just talking about the comments on the post, but also feedback off-line. It affected someone. Want to know something funny? About 75% of the time I finish a blog post and think that was a dud. Boring, cliche, not much to it. I think this comes from the fact that I read the post and think man, how do I really get my message across? Sometimes words seem so inadequate. And those are the posts where someone lets me know how much they loved it. Not oh, you are such a great writer, rather that post really had an affect on me today. I guarantee that you are affecting people today. Your responses, the respect you show, the actions you take to show someone you care about them or their issues somehow today you are going to affect someone. Youll never know how you affect them, and how many people you affect. Can you think of something one thing, that you can do today that will have a positive impact on someone? I should say that this is good for your career and your personal brand, and its a great way to network, etc. etc. Thats all true. But for me, its much bigger than just having a stronger network. We all have a chance of changing the world for the better, even if its just one persons world. What can you do today to affect just one person? Habits of Successful Entrepreneurs - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Habits of Successful Entrepreneurs - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Entrepreneurs are known for their creativity and thinking differently from everyone else. I was relieved to learn in a class that “conventional wisdom” need not apply! Believe in yourself According to conventional wisdom, we are told the first step to building our business is to write out a detailed business plan. But most of us are visionaries thinking into the far off future. So it becomes futile at best case to write out a detailed plan as we deal with continual change. It was reassuring to hear entrepreneurship does not embrace conventional wisdom. Seek Opportunity everywhere Much of the instruction I already knew. But the reason I wanted to attend was that it would enable me to meet other entrepreneurs who were ready to move to the next level. My secondary goal was to meet and speak with the professor and the sponsors of the event. I believed it to be an incredible opportunity. Over the years, I’ve learned when we seek opportunity we usually find it. All of my expectations were met and the networking proved to be well worthwhile. Invite Help Do doubt and hesitation enter your mind when it comes to business? This is the point we need to ask for help. Embarrassment and ego need to be set aside. Finding the people who are successful in the areas where you need help the most are the ones to whom you should reach out. Simply ask what strategies they used to become successful. The answers will pour forth! Serve others Help those coming up behind you such as people who ask questions of you and communities that may benefit from your expertise. Over time, you will get to know some well and quite possibly will need to ask questions of them. The process literally becomes one of ‘Give and Take’ where everyone wins. Collaborate Collaboration is one of the most difficult ideas for entrepreneurs to grasp. It should be simple because the definition is a group of people working to help one another. The drawback is collaboration can only work when everyone adheres to the same principles. I know two entrepreneurs who had brilliant ideas that began to succeed. They generously brought in their friends to assist. Sadly, the friends conspired to take the businesses over and booted out the founding CEO’s. Recognizing the horror, it took a colossal leap of faith for me to give collaboration a try. But the leap of faith into the unknown is also applicable to entrepreneurship. Collaboration is merely a vehicle to success. My experience was we were in need of each other’s services in order to move forward. In the process, we learned a tremendous amount and became lifelong friends. Participate in Supportive Branding Your team will go the extra mile for you letting everyone they know about your new projects and events. This is power branding at its best reaching far larger audiences for a greater return. Your name and company are seen everywhere to become widely recognized. Ask for the Sale The sales cycle includes many components and specific techniques will increase the frequency of hearing Yes! However, when you adapt the habits outlined above, many times your prospect will ask permission to purchase from you. This is the ultimate testament that you are doing everything correctly and have built a trusted personal brand. Adapting these entrepreneurial habits to your style will advance you to the Smooth Sale! 5 Simple Tips for Beautiful Sleep

5 Simple Tips for Beautiful Sleep For many of us career girls, stress and sleep deprivation are an unfortunate part of our daily routine. Particularly when combined with a generous social life, extended working hours and the always on” culture engendered by the rise of the smartphone, a good nights sleep is often an afterthought that is continually pushed back into the early hours. However, as cliché dictates, we all need our beauty sleep and, whilst some of us may need more than others, the scientific media are keen to impress the importance of regular, good-quality sleep. A recent article published by the BBC highlighted the arrogance” of both our approach and attitudes to sleeping and the benefits it brings. Thankfully, regardless whether you are an insomniac or or a hypersomniac, a few simple adjustments to your sleeping routine will help you get the most out of whatever time you may have desperately pencilled into your diary to catch up with your sleeping schedule. Daily Routines Whilst were on the subject of schedules and routine, when it comes to sweet dreams, among the most useful tools employed in the fight against sleeping problems is a regular sleeping pattern. If possible, you should set yourself regular times for sleeping and waking up. This will help the body regulate itself and reinforce your sleep cycle. Intensive Exercise Whilst the benefits of regular exercise have always been said to benefit much more than just your nocturnal habits, much has recently been said of short bursts of intensive exercise as a viable alternative to hours in the gym. Perfect for the chronologically challenged amongst us, it is thought that a mere three minutes of exercise per week can have untold benefits on your sleep and your general health as a whole. Sleep Hygiene For those that are new to this term, it is worth remembering that good sleep hygiene isnt only clean sheets and a shower before bed. Good sleep hygiene includes ensuring your bedroom is dark enough for successful REM; avoiding food, alcohol and other stimulants shortly before bedtime and associating your bed with sleep by using it, simply, for exactly that rather than watching TV or reading before you drop off. Better Bedding It is said that we spend around a third of our lives within the warm confines of our beds and, for this reason, it is vital that we dont make compromises during the time that we are there. A good mattress is only part of the story with other additions such as mattress toppers, high quality pillows, sheets and even your  interior design will all be supporting and comforting your body for many years. It is important to ensure your bedding is suited to your sleeping position and body shape to help maximise your restful hours. Work Less There are a few people in the world who are currently championing the idea of the 4-day week, however, whilst the ideal sounds wonderful, for many of us it is simply impractical. Despite this fact, there are still ways in which you can cut down your working day and stop it invading your sleeping hours. So, turn off your smartphone when its time to sleep, shut down your laptop at least 2 hours before bed and make sure your lunch break is a time for eating and chatting rather than stuffing yourself at your desk.

How Many Duties Should I Include When Writing a Resume?

How Many Duties Should I Include When Writing a Resume?Writing a resume that is well-written will require knowing what each job experience that you are listing is required to perform. It is easy to feel overwhelmed as the resume is drafted and then handed in, but the right amount of information will help you when it comes time to actually sit down with your prospective employer and discuss the type of work experience that is necessary for the position.First, determine how many duties you will be listing. This will differ based on the specific job title. For example, if the job title is 'Customer Service Representative' then you will be required to list all of the duties listed. If the title is 'Human Resources Manager,' then you will only be expected to list duties required to fill the position. Also, you should not include any responsibilities for multiple duties in the same category, or you will be in violation of the terms of employment. List the titles in the most appropriate orde r to ensure you don't leave anything out of the application. For example, if you are applying for the position of 'Sales Representative,' then you should list all of the duties associated with this position. You may want to consider including as many related duties as possible, such as 'responsible for: answering phone calls,' 'assisting customers with shipping or delivery needs,' 'assistance with training and appointments,' 'consulting with customers regarding retail location options,' and 'conferencing with sales representatives regarding promotions.' You should then list each of these duties in a separate column.Once you have listed the duties that you feel are necessary for this position, then you can begin to list your experience related to these duties. What is the specific nature of the duties you feel are required to fulfill the job? As with any other job search, you should attempt to list your previous experiences where applicable.Regardless of the specific role you are seek ing, you should be able to cite an experience where you have demonstrated an ability to perform a task, an ability to interact with people, or a unique experience where you demonstrated expertise. This list should include as many past jobs as possible and/or past assignments, such as, where you were the highest rated employee in a job role, or when you were named Employee of the Month by the human resources department. If you do have a unique skill set that could benefit the position, then list the skills that you have learned or developed. Do not forget to include anything that you may have learned in college. You should also list any training you have received that relates to the position that you are applying for.In addition to listing the duties, you will also want to write a cover letter, which will have to be written in such a way as to not only highlight your most recent work experience, but to also clearly outline why you are the best candidate for the position. The employmen t applicant who effectively utilizes all of the information listed above will be the one who is the proud recipient of an interview call or offer letter from their prospective employer.
